Each pack comes with a pound of each of the meats, six pitas, plus large orders of hummus, salad, rice, tzatziki, and garlic sauces. Be sure to tack on a side of baklava or its dessert pita — its version of a dessert pizza made with fried pita chips tossed in Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cinnadust and topped with chocolate syrup.

The burgers and breakfast sandwiches are no slouch, either — with its Champ burger loaded with bacon and cheese, and its classic sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich.

The black bean or falafel burger rivals some of the meat-based options. For fragrant bowls of pho noodle soup, rice plates, and spring rolls head to this unassuming Vietnamese restaurant. An herbaceous traditional bowl of okra soup is the perfect place to start before diving into one of its signature plates, like the jollof rice or yam porridge, which are complimented with two pieces of meat or one portion of fish, with the option to add on chicken, oxtails, mackerel, beef, goat, or vegetarian options.

Do you know if that still works with the Disney dining plan. I just returned from Disney and asked a cast member about this new rule.

She did confirm that the unused meals can not be used as snack credits like before. If you dont use them, you loose them. I hope this helps. This is as of January, , but just like all other Disney things, it may change.

Hi Tom! Thank you for the article. It is extremely helpful as I am planning my first visit with my son in May. I think another factor, or at least the one I am seeing, is other deals with the dining plan.

That said, I did plan on using it for at least 2 character 2 credit meals. Note, the adults are both drinkers. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eileen: I agree with you. Tom you should definitely take note!

If you have kids between 3 and 9 only then this discount is actually a super good deal. I just booked a Standard Pool View room at the Pop Century for April and 4 days of Park Hopper tickets for one adult and 2 kids ages 4 and 9.

I should add, this was also the Standard Dining plan. Under the Quick Service Plan we actually would have saved money vs. Undercover Tourist for the same exact hotel and tickets, without food.

So in a way, The Kids Play and Eat Half Price is like getting Free Dining before Free Dining Season starts if you look at it versus reserving with the Undercover Tourist website. When I priced the Hotel Discount version of the trip the Pop Century shindig was way more expensive than what Undercover Tourist was offering.

It seems like the Stay More Play More hotel discount is pretty bad in my opinion for the Value Hotels. It only makes sense for Deluxe Hotels. it is probably as good as anyone is going to do. Hi Tom, first off I hope your new little family is getting some rest!!!!! About the dining plan now. My husband and adult special needs daughter go to disneyworld every September.

We have always gotten the dining plan , whether free or purchased getting a room discount instead. I have always felt like the dining plan forced me to try and eat more expensive things when sometimes I wanted the cheaper item.

I also noticed when in fine dining like at the boathouse, we had to purchase extra items to make a full meal and then use two credits. We missed Disney for two hrs during covid.

The last two years we have done club level with a discount and purchased our own foods. There is nothing like the convienence of club level and then purchasing only food items I wanted.

We always had dessert at club level and 8 out of 10 mornings had breakfast. We really spent much less at restaurants and I only what I wanted. I often found out tips were higher due to always trying to max out on food with the dining plan. I think I found the magic this way. FYI Back when we went to Disneyworld for our honeymoon 39 years ago everything was included.

Three full sit down or quick meals, vouchers for tips for baggage handlers and free bus ride from airport and back. Anyway, everything was included and there were no fine dining two voucher credits. What is to prevent someone who is not staying on Disney property from booking a hotel on property, then using the ADR booking window to make their ADRs at 60 days , then cancelling their on property resort reservation before the 30 day cancellation cut off?

I have always stayed on property but this seems like an easy way to game the system given how everything is set up. Hello Tom! I cant seem to share this screen shot with this page, but the link for a dining plan came up. It is clickable, so I clicked it. I said, Yes! Not sure what happened, as it was on the final page and then it went to pay.

It did not increase my final cost, but it was still there! I will keep you posted. Hope this is a good sign!!! Been reading the posts and enjoying them. I was just wondering how do you know which alcoholic beverages is included?

Is it all wine, beer and cocktails except for signature ones? Or must you ask a cast member each time? Tom, you mentioned that with the deluxe dining plan, adult and child credits are officially able to be mixed.

I know that it was that way for many years due to a loophole but I believe they may have closed the loophole and officially said that the credits are NOT interchangeable as of Jan 1 Where did you see anything different?

Same question! SO much to say about the dining plan. We love free dining and do well as we are 4 Disney adults staying value.

It is a great deal for us. If you have kids and get the Deluxe or regular you will save money if you eat character meals. One Character meal costs most of what you pay for the kids dining plan. Sometimes it costs more.

The rest of the credits are just free food. WE saved tons of money buying the Deluxe plan when we had kids. Their savings made up for any losses on the adults by a lot.

WE also did an experiment. We went to Disney during Food and Wine and bought gift cards. We ate everywhere we wanted to and ordered whatever we wanted. We ate tons of booth food and ended up using the gift cards for souvenirs so we would spend it all. We arrived mid-afternoon our first day and left mid-afternoon our last day.

Okay, time for a little explanation. Follow so far? Tracking the amount spent gets a little trickier on the Disney Dining Plan. As for the out of pocket portion there, the Disney Dining Plan does not cover tips, nor does it cover some other things we ordered, like alcohol and appetizers. We also paid for two table service meals out of pocket, since we only had enough credits for 3 table service meals, and we ate 5 table service meals.

We exceeded both our table service and snack credit allotments, but only had 3 counter service meals, so we would have had 3 credits remaining. Were we actually on the Disney Dining Plan, we would have used all of these credits, and not done one or two of the table service meals that we did.

The first thing I want to note here is how liberating it was to do things spontaneously and not do this degree of planning of course, I ended up doing even more work after the fact for this blog post, but whatever and just eat what and where we wanted to eat without thinking about credits or Disney Dining Plan efficiency.

Oh, and you can only eat certain things and have to plan the types of meals that work with the Disney Dining Plan, otherwise you waste credits. When paying out of pocket, you show up where you want, order what you want, and pay for what you ordered.

Our experience with both paying out of pocket and with using the Disney Dining Plan has been that paying out of pocket is unquestionably more convenient. Any convenience of the Disney Dining Plan is illusory.

More importantly, what about actual savings? Based on my numbers, we clearly saved more money by not using the Disney Dining Plan and instead paying out of pocket and using Tables in Wonderland we would have saved more even without the Tables in Wonderland card. However, in fairness, those numbers are a bit misleading.

Honestly, we could have changed our style pretty easily without negatively affecting our experience and that would have made the gap between out of pocket and the Disney Dining Plan a bit smaller.

Something that would have negatively affected our experience, but would also have decreased BOTH totals would have been to eat 2 additional counter service meals and 2 fewer table service meals.

Obviously, this would have decreased the Dining Plan total more than the out of pocket total since we had the unused counter service credits on the Dining Plan. In fact, my rough math shows that, had we done that, the totals would have been almost even.

My preference is eating whatever I want at any restaurant and dining at the two table service restaurants rather than adding 2 counter service restaurants to the plans, but the point remains. It was true on this one trip we took, but is definitely not always true, even for us.

This also shows that there is no single answer to the out of pocket versus Disney Dining Plan question in terms of savings.

The results can substantially deviate based upon your personal dining reservations, plans, and eating habits.

While my numbers illustrate this point, they offer little more than illustration, and are really little more than academic here. The real point is that both paying out of pocket and using the Disney Dining Plan can each be viable options worthy of consideration.

Walt Disney World almost always has discounts. Walt Disney World almost always offers discounts on vacations. Free Dining is one discount that Disney offers.

It thus becomes a question of opportunity cost. Do YOU save more money paying with free dining and a full priced room and tickets than you do with a room discount and paying out of pocket for food and with potentially discounted tickets? This is more than the average daily amount that we spend on food, which is why we book the room-only discount at BoardWalk if both discounts are offered.

If there were 2 more people staying in the room with us, that would tip the scale in favor of Free Dining. I know everyone hates math, but the point, once again, is that you have to do the math for your circumstances to know for sure.

Planning your dining is almost as important as booking your airfare. A lot of Walt Disney World restaurants book up months in advance, and the difference in experience between a good and a bad restaurant is like night and day.

We highly recommend reading some of our restaurant reviews and checking out menus online before before making your Advance Dining Reservations.

Thank you for this comparison. It really helped me a lot. Looking a planning another Disney trip. I will probally end up going with the meal plan even though we will probally not quite get our moneys worth.

proper examination should be apple to apples. majority of visitors are out of state, OR out of country, AND not part of DVC, or passholders.

they arent eligible to purchase the wonderland table card. thats not the same as buying anything you want. use NO discounts — — Other than what Disneys gives you for staying on-site. follow the Dining Plans rules, and buy the foods out of pocket correlating to the plan.

then total your receipts against the cost of the Dining Plan, to see whos actually saving money. then compare your receipts vs the cost of the QS plan. then you do this for Dining Plan. then you do this for Deluxe Plan.

and could better show actual price differences of your purchases vs each of the Dining Plan. Good for YOU! Soda doesnt count since you have the refill Cup. unless you want Shakes, Fraps, etc. I am not a huge eater and will definitely want some alcohol at some point during the day due to the nature of Disney World and spending the entire day there with my niece and nephew.

My husband can definitely eat, but only if it is available to him. I think your correct, forget the meal plan. stayed at the beach club once and it was a disappointment. I like to use the meal plan cost as a budget number for food though.

Your mileage may vary the children should be considerably less. The deluxe plan does include appetizers, and alcoholic beverages. Maybe that is new since you did this.

Many people cannot get a Tables in wonderland card, or go 4 times a year, so we do not really mind planning out and getting reservations. And do you totally not care about the mug at the resort? The way I see it when figuring out if it is worth doing or not you take the value of that and the snacks off first.

I do know that we are not saving money on tips, but neither is anyone else. You tip on the bill, and do not take off discounts anyway. I am just getting ready for my first trip where I stay at a resort, and my husband is going to want 2 non fast food meals each day.

Plus, if you do any of the special things like Morimoto Asia, and use a lot of you snacks at an Epcot festival like food and wine, well, I plan to check the totals at the end and see, but so for we are coming out way ahead.

Also, there is no reason not to finish out any meals you have left over before you leave by loading up on Disney snack items, so I see no reason to have any left over. We are doing exactly what we want to do too. And all the sales tax is figured on the cost of the plan rather than the cost of the food we actually bought.

Some of the things we really wanted, and I got are full now. Or you have to spend a lot of Tim waiting for a standby spot. I am not really big on planning a lot at Dwd I like to wake up and decide where I want to go.

I am sure I will find food. A few years ago I went with my daughter and the family a 12yo and 8 yo. The schedule was harrowing. We were constantly watching the time have to get from animal kingdom to Epcot by 7 have to be at fast track at 8.

All day every day it was a lot of work not my style! Hi there, silly question. Can I choose to pay out of pocket even if I have the Dining Plan? For example, I want to save two of my table service credits for CRT, but a quick dinner grab at Mama Melrose, can I just pay out of pocket to save the credit?

I need to first plan everything to the millisecond, then see IF the dining plan is a good deal or not, THEN make the reservation, THEN hope that 6 months before coming, the availability of the restaurants and the vacation plan are compatible, THEN hope that 2 months before going, the availability for Fast Pass will be compatible with everything else…..

So confusing! How do you know when you will be hungry and what you will be close to so you can preplan? Our first time and making reservations without any of the above knowledge is crazy to me! I know right? Perhaps the best and first two questions to ask will help clarify your priorities:.

The accommodations? Head to this strip-mall spot for Taiwanese cuisine that does not break the bank. Start off with an order of its chicken nuggets and then move onto its fried pork chop with rice complete with bok choy, picked veggies, and egg.

This old-fashioned diner remains tried and true for its NY-deli style comfort plates and is always a scene on weekends with early birds looking to score hot and fresh bagels. Along with traditional breakfast pastries, budget eats are aplenty. When you factor all of those meals in, the UDP is most definitely less expensive, per meal, than buying a la carte.

We have never had a problem getting the dining reservations we want after we get on board. It's our first stop as soon as we board. Rarely, like never, do they make a Pre reservation for you. I feel that I am being rewarded by purchasing the package, The UDP is the best value.

This has been my experience with the dining plan. We typically have to get on a waitlist for Izumi because of this since it sells out by the time of sailing. Did the UDP once on Wonder this past February, never again too constrained and too much hassle trying to make reservations for each night of the cruise.

In the future, we'll stick with MDR, Windjammer, or take in a Specialty Joint at our convenience I checked out the menus again for my upcoming cruises. Out of 7 nights, I can put together 4 dinners, and one will be all appetizers.

Now, a "day" could include both lunch and dinner, so that lowers the cost per meal even more. Plus, my wonderful TA's obc gifts help, too. Hi, there Wonderful TA!! If they get the MDR menus upgraded a little, then I'll skip the UDP.

Until then, I'll keep looking at the UDP. Our experience from Radiance last week tells me 1 that the specialty restaurants are not good and 2 that they were empty at each of the 5 times we went.

Except for Giovanni's, the MDR meals were better. Chops was SO disappointing. How can Gios take the same steak, and make it wonderful, while Chops ruins it order rare, just in case you thought "well done". Really, in the event we do RCCL again, we will be very hesitant about specialty meals, and I sure wouldn't book one ahead.

PS: This was a head-to-head comparison trip. NCL up, RCCL back. Specialty meals on NCL really were special. You are getting a discount and will be filling in the more undesirable times. Thats the trade off. Sort of on topic Once we see the show schedule and book the shows, then we book whichever specialty restaurants we choose to attend.

We take care of both while awaiting our room to become available. You will be able to leave a comment after signing in. LauraS · Started Friday at PM. LauraS · Started February 7. LauraS · Started February 5.
