In a large bowl or bucket, mix together the grated soap and all other ingredients. Pour into your container of choice. Take note that this recipe makes 18 pounds worth of detergent, so you'll need to have a rather large container.

Fabric Softener Ingredients: 2 cups hair conditioner Suave is a popular, inexpensive choice 3 cups white vinegar 6 cups hot water A container to mix it in a pitcher is ideal, as it's easy to pour the mixture later Optional: Essential oil, for scent Instructions: Mix the water, vinegar, and conditioner together.

If you walk down the cleaning aisle at any grocery store, you might get the impression that the bathroom needs all kinds of expensive cleaning products.

Remember, soap is soap. I like to squirt a little blue Dawn dish soap in my toilet bowl and then scrub with a toilet brush. It gets the job done for cheap, and the money I saved gets to stay in my wallet.

Here are more helpful tips for getting your toilet fresh and clean. This might go without saying, but a sink full of hot water and a few drops of Dawn works better than anything to get my dishes clean. I have a dishwasher in my home, so I like to pre-soak any dishes with stuck-on food in a sink full of hot soapy Dawn water before I rinse them off and place them in the dishwasher.

Next up in our budget household cleaning products, we have good old vinegar. Vinegar has strong cleaning power, a cheap price tag, and is all natural.

Here are three areas of my home I clean using vinegar. A mixture of one part vinegar to three parts water is great for cleaning anything shiny — windows, mirrors, shiny metal fixtures like sink faucets, glass coffee tables, glass cabinet doors. Just wipe or spray on the vinegar mixture, and then use a paper towel to dry.

I use paper towels instead of my kitchen rags because I find that the kitchen rag leaves lint behind. A squeegee would be a good environmentally friendly alternative.

Pour a cup of vinegar into a microwave safe bowl, and place it in your microwave. Turn your microwave on and let it heat up the vinegar for about ten minutes. Let the vinegar cool down for a minute or two before removing it very carefully from your microwave.

Now take a kitchen rag and wipe down the inside of your microwave. The hot vinegar has steam cleaned the inside surfaces and that stuck on food is easily wiped off.

You steam cleaned your microwave, and now you have a bowl of hot vinegar sitting on your kitchen counter. What should you do with it? You could pour it down the drain, but wait!

Squirt a teaspoon of blue Dawn dish soap into the bowl and mix. Now you have a great budget stain remover that you can use to spot clean the stains on your couch, the rug in your living room, or even the cloth seats of your car.

This tip comes from the amazing cleaning company, Go Clean Co. Follow them on Instagram for more cleaning tips. They recommend mixing a few teaspoons of powdered Tide detergent with about a third of a cup of bleach with a gallon of hot water.

This mixture is pure magic! I was a little skeptical about using laundry detergent to clean more than my clothes, but once I tried it, I never went back to any other cleaner!

This is how it works: the Tide lifts stains and dirt while the bleach disinfects. I use this budget cleaning mixture almost everywhere in my home, but here are three specific examples. The bathroom is an area that needs daily disinfecting, and this mixture works wonders.

I use it on my bath tub, my toilet, my tile floor and walls, my sink, and even inside my little bathroom waste basket. I use this mixture on any hard surface floors except hardwood. This budget cleaner gets them shiny again, not to mention germ free.

Those fingerprints, food smudges, and dust will wipe off your kitchen cabinets so easily with Tide and bleach.

Now that your cabinet doors are sparkling clean, read this tips for getting the inside of your kitchen cabinets organized. Baking soda is a budget cleaning super star. Here are two ways I use baking soda around my home. Soap and water can clean almost anything, but sometimes you need a product with a little more grittiness to give you a bit more scrubbing action.

Purchase a handheld, also known as a dustbuster, which is great for vacuuming problem areas like baseboards, couches, and errant pet fur anywhere it ends up. Microfiber cloths. Microfiber cloths are gentle enough to clean all surfaces without leaving behind scratches, including stainless steel and glass.

Buy a few, and toss them in the wash with your towels on a regular basis to keep them clean. When not using it for another purpose, utilize it as a caddy for storing your cleaning supplies and carrying them from room to room.

Broom and dustpan. Similar to a vacuum cleaner, you can buy a small handheld option for tight spaces that offers the same capabilities with just a little bit more work required. Flat mop. A flat mop, or dust mop, is a good alternative to the standard and unruly mops that a lot of people are used to.

Rubber gloves. As a bonus, they last a lot longer and provide a lot more protection than latex or nitrile gloves. Keep a squeegee in your shower to cut down on soap scum build up the tile, which will save you lots of time later on.

Many come with suction attachments so you can attach them right to the wall and use them as needed. Toilet brush and holder. A bristled toilet brush will help you get your toilet bowl sparkling clean with very minimal effort.

There are one-use varieties, but for the sake of your wallet—and the environment—buy a reusable one and just replace it a couple of times a year or as needed. All-purpose cleaner. A great multi-surface, all-purpose cleaner is definitely one of the most essential cleaning products you can own.

Glass cleaner. Glass cleaner is specially formulated for glass surfaces like windows and tables so that you can get an effective clean without leaving behind streaks or smears. Wood cleaner.

Similar to glass cleaner, wood cleaner is a one-surface-specific cleaner that, in this case, is optimized for use on wood.

This is important to have, since both all-purpose cleaning sprays and water can damage wood and varnish. Antibacterial spray or wipes. Antibacterial cleaning products disinfect and sanitize to kill germs in your home. Use in addition to an all-purpose cleaner, especially in germ-heavy spaces like the kitchen and bathroom.

Tile cleaner with bleach. Soap scum, mold, mildew, and rust build-up are all par for the course in baths and showers. A tile cleaner with bleach can remove this type of unsightly grime, though be sure to put on your vent or open a window when you use it to protect yourself from the fumes.

Toilet bowl cleaner. A bleach-based toilet bowel cleaner makes getting a clean toilet a cinch. White vinegar. Vinegar is great at dissolving grease and removing dirt, and it even has some disinfectant properties though not to the degree of a chemical-based antibacterial product, unfortunately.

Baking soda. Baking soda is a pro at absorbing and lifting odors. Keep an open container in the fridge, and use it as needed to take care of unpleasant aromas such as those coming from carpets or garbage disposals. Here are a few more essential cleaning products to pick up at the store.

Most of them, however, are a lifesaver for getting your home spic and span. Promising review: "I have had my Nike Roshe runs for about a year now, and I don't go easy on them.

I play sports and run in the dirt with them all the time, but I also like to wear them for fashion purposes. Pink Miracle helped restore my daily shoes to look like I just bought them — now I can wear them for even longer.

Very pleased with Pink Miracle, I will buy it again when I run out of my bottle. As soon as I saw it lifting the ink, I got back on Amazon and bought more bottles. I will never let myself run out of this. I use it in my Bissell carpet cleaner for some crazy good cleaning power.

No regrets. Promising review: "This stuff is amazing! I will never look for another pet stain remover again, this is it.

My ride or die. But this stuff took it right out! My dog has also added a few new stains of his own to the carpet and this has gotten every single one out.

Promising review: "I have well water. Something in my well water reacts with copper plumbing and turns my shower tiles blue. Since my bathroom color scheme isn't on the blue spectrum, this is problematic.

The well water also causes the shower glass to film up quickly. I've tried dozens and dozens of cleaners and scrubbed till my arms ached trying to get ahead of the blue and scumminess.

My ambition in life is NOT to be a full time bathroom scrubber! I saw this stuff on a professional house cleaner's TikTok sorry, don't remember which one and thought 'what the heck, might as well give it a try.

Day two, sprayed again and walked away. The next morning the blue was gone except for a few spots on the floor tile and the glass looked amazing.

Day three I sprayed the remaining spots and the next morning the shower practically looked new. NO SCRUBBING AT ALL!!!! This is my new favorite shower cleaner. The ONLY con I have is that it makes me sneeze while I'm spraying from inside the shower, but I can live with that. I tried name-brand shower cleaners and bleach to try to clean the soap scum off the tiles and tub.

I had no luck and I would cough and get sick because of how strong the smell was. I thought I would try this to save my lungs.

I sprayed my entire shower and left it for about 15 minutes. Came back and rinsed off the walls and they were shiny!

I've never had such a clean shower. The smell is amazing and subtle. All I smell is tea tree and it didn't affect me at all. The price is also a good deal since the bottle is pretty large. Promising review: "Glad I found this product on TikTok. Definitely worth the money.

Promising review: "Works great! I saw a video for this product on TikTok, and knew that I needed it in my life. I love it, and it helps keep my new car looking clean and new!

Promising review: "Wow! A degreaser that actually works! I love the foam, which starts to work immediately on my stove top as well as cookware and other kitchen surfaces. Promising review: "For whatever reason, I am ALWAYS spilling things on my shirts and I cook every night sometimes I remember the apron, sometimes I don't.

My clothes are a mess by the end of the day. I'm not proud of it, but there it is. There is simply not a major stain remover that I have not tried. The only thing close is a long presoak I mean like six hours in Oxyclean. With Puracy, you get the best result by doing it well in advance, but for me that is another plus because I would far rather spray them when I put them in the hamper than do it all at once just before I do the laundry.

It seems to get everything out and I've never had any trouble with damaged fabric. I don't really review very much, but this is seriously outstanding.

Promising review: "This product is amazing!!! I cannot believe what it took off our stove top! Hello new clean stove. This stuff is THE TRUTH. My roommate is the best, but let's just say wiping down the stove after cooking is not one of her favorite activities.

I'm not particular fond of doing the dishes, so I guess we're even. Like, every little spot of caked-on grease and burnt crumbs come off with just one wipe. Read our review of the Bar Keepers Friend soft cleanser.

Promising review: "WOW, this product is AMAZING. My roommate used these cheap 'poetry' magnets on the brand new stainless steal fridge that had came with our unit, and when we peeled the magnets off, there were these little rust stains left behind not to mention the tons of finger print and water stains.

THIS MIRACLE STUFF TOOK ALL OF THAT OFF; NOT A SCRATCH OR RUST SPOT TO BE FOUND!! The fridge still looks BRAND NEW after two years of wear and tear, I thought no way am I going to get this fridge back to par so we don't get dinged on our walk-through, BUT I DID!!!

It also got rid of the water stains on my stainless steel dishwater AND WHITENED THE BOTTOM OF MY WALK-IN SHOWER STALL.

I am so glad I got the two-pack. I will FOR SURE be using this stuff on other cleaning projects in the future!! Promising review : "This is a miracle worker on stainless. I have tried everything to get my stainless to shine like it should, even the home remedies, which do NOT work — sorry but they don't.

This stuff is the best I have tried. She nailed it again. You will love this stuff. Promising review: "Finally! A product that does not leave a sticky film on my furniture. I love this product. It rubs in easily, and buffs to a natural shine. The wood is left looking healthy and with a natural glow, not a heavy fake glossy polish.

And best of all, there is no residue. The smell is pleasant and dissipates quickly. Which is a huge plus for me because I am super sensitive to perfumes. Promising reviews: "I clean my brushes every so often not as often as I should and I have NEVER gotten this much gunk out of my brushes with regular soap.

This stuff is amazing, takes almost no scrubby effort and my brushes are the cleanest they have ever been. Definitely recommend.

All of my sponges of various colors look almost brand new after using this. Even my white sponges look only faintly tinted in comparison to what they used to look like.

It does seem like it takes quite a bit of product to do each sponge, but it definitely gets the job done. I'll certainly order another bottle when I run out.

Promising review: "I bought this RMR spray with low expectations, even with the good reviews. I sprayed a small patch in the evening and let it sit overnight. The next morning, the grout where I had sprayed was as white as if it were brand new. I decided to spray the entire wall and part of the roof.

The next day everything I sprayed had no visible mold. By the third night, I was pretty much spraying everything left in the shower. This stuff is amazing. Actually gets counters clean without a film or streak and not a lot of elbow grease.

Promising review: "My year-old leather sectional hadn't been cleaned or conditioned in three to four years because I couldn't find anything that worked well without causing it to look blotchy.

The color was also fading, and I thought it was a goner. After some elbow grease, the sectional looks great! It's now back to its original color without being blotchy. More importantly, the suppleness has returned.

I can actually say that it looks as good as the day we bought it. Promising review: "I never leave reviews on Amazon but this grout cleaner definitely deserved a review. I tried three other cleaners before buying Grout-eez and they did nothing but waste my time and money. Grout-eez got my grout perfectly clean in no time, plus it was easy to use and no odor.

I'll never use another grout cleaner. Promising review: "Love this stuff. I was skeptical at first. I am a huge germaphobe and this worked well enough for me to actually take a bath at my new place with the jets on! BuzzFeed Shopping editorial director Mallory McInnis swears by this stuff!

Here's what she has to say:. There's a scene where Tim Allen's character shaves away his white beard and then ~WHOOSH! That's basically my bathtub and soap scum. I've tried many products to keep it at bay, but this is the only one that has ever really worked. Not only does it have a cute dog on the packaging, it also allows me to easily!

wipe away dastardly soap scum without having to use a lot of muscle! Which is great, because I don't exactly have a lot of muscle to use. Promising review: "Every once in a while you stumble on a product on Amazon that you buy on a whim because of the good reviews.

When you actually receive the product and use it, you can't believe how good it really is. This is definitely one of those products.

Truth be told, the stainless-steel sink in my house is 14 years old. While we have cleaned the sink thoroughly every two weeks since we have moved in, we have never polished it or used a product such as this one.

The first time I applied it to the sink, we could tell that there was an amazing difference.
